Modern kitchens are now used to fulfill several functionalities. Gone are the days when they were just a space to cook the food and maybe sometimes even eat. Today, children use it as the place to finish their school work; husbands use it as a place to chat with their wives, while some owners even use this place to host dinner parties. Generally speaking, the smaller the room, the smaller the lights need to be. If the room is very small then using mirrors and accent lighting can make it appear bigger. Consider all aspects of what you are installing though. The cost of the fixtures, the wattage they will put out and even the quality of light you will gain.
